Yeah… I am experiencing this at my college… Honestly, when you enter this college, you would perhaps expecting something good and great you will be enjoying while in it… But I experienced the otherwise…*sighs*
The first day I entered this college, and attended the first class… I was so shocked… why? Most of my coursemates cannot speak English… Even they are much more older than you…They cannot even pronounced “health” and it turned out to be “Heal”…and “death” turned out to be “dif” or “dith”… And most of them come from the Art Stream in secondary schools…few others come from semi-science stream while at form five… and only me and one chinese come from Science stream… Omg! I know I am not good in English… but when you come to this place, you will thanks to God and your former teachers for giving you taught on English… :)
Huhuhuh I’m not saying I am good in this post…*because I have been receiving few comments regarding my poor English…but thanks to those commentators ;) * but I just want to say, I am so thankful… I learned a lot during my secondary school… and my English is not that bad compared to this people… and I feel glad, I learned all sciences during my secondary school, and it helps so much for my course now..I have no regrets for my studies during my form 4 and 5.. :P
I wonder what happens to them, when they cannot cope with the lessons… Some of them are too slow… I swear! And the victim will be me… Sometimes, they came to me, and asked a lot… They sometimes came to me and asked me to explain what had already being explained by lecturers.. *sighs*
And sometimes, I am not allowed to answer when lecturers asked.. Especially during A&P, whenever lecturer asked questions, I am not allowed to answer… I get the chance to answer only when all of them could not give the right answers to lecturer…*sighs*
I was once being asked to get out of the class… When it was time for tutorial… we were given the chance to examine fake skeleton in class… so, group by group were asked to go in front and do skeleton examining… me? Lecturer asked me to go out, to have the early recess..why? She thinks that she di not need me to be around… why? because whenever she asked, I was the one whom gave the answers.. while others were just watching… so, I was asked to have early recess…
And honestly here, I think I cannot cope with my studies… why? They are learning so slow… And I feel sleepy during lectures..why? Because the lecturers have to repeat and repeat until others of my course mates understand… And when I am sleepy, I fell asleep of course… Sometimes I feel, I do not need to go to the class to learn things… I can do my own studies… It’s far better rather than falling asleep during classes… :)
And by the way, I have decided not to go for the Masquerade Prom Night at my college… why? I have no money… and I have to keep save for my budget… and I think, it’s not worth to go only to feel the life as a junior… I think, I take Annna‘s suggestion… go only when you are about to graduate… yes! my final year… I’ll be going… Promise to all of you.. :P

No one can say their English is good. Even the best experts in English, still are not as good as others…
also, good english is subjective.. some people can regard the best English speakers as having the worst. I think, clear English is the best.. As long as you can communicate in English, and get a point across, your English is good.
But some people think what you’re not thinking about the poor and good English… ;)

Hhmmm…. as long as i can undrstand what others are saying in english is good enough.it’s normal to have your grammar or your words twisted when you are speaking english compared to written english. being an english teacher myself doesn’t guarantee that i speak perfect english but i try to make my point across as clearly as the water from the ELKEN water purifier… :P
hahahahah like I said to cyril… some people think differently of poor and bad English dear… :P

As a blog, I dig only your main points and overlook all other things, and most of the time you get your points across. so you are ok. Most of us, with the exception of a few, still have a lot of room for improvement. don’t worry about it, just keep on practising, read and speak more in English. Or most importantly as my English lecturer used to say, THINK in English.
with the exception of slow classmates, it’s common to feel bored during first year as they are mostly basics/introductory subjects as a refresher. my best advice when you are in college, score as high as possible during your first and second year. that way as you go along the year, your CGPA (if you are using the system) wont drop easily towards the end.
huhuhuhuh Thanks for those kind words sis… Emmm… it’s not the itroductory syllabus… we are now on syllabus which are quite important… and I have already learned it in my form 5… and form 4… even during form 1… but now… again… tired… and boring… *sighs*

It’s kind of frustrating when the people around you doesn’t seem at the same par like you (or at least that’s what you think). But it shouldn’t be a barrier for you at all. They have their reason to be there, regardless with their so-called slow English. Be it vocab or verbals.. you should be proud when they come asking you to assist them, because it’ll be like a refresher to your study, as well as getting yourself some pahala :)
I just don’t understand one thing. How can a teacher kicked someone outta class just because he/she assumed stuff? geez…don’t tell me you did something funny, i.e boasting? … kidding.. i know you wouldn’t :)
She kicked me out because whenever Im there with them, no ones will answer her questions besides me. :P
