Yeah, I am in dilemma on what to choose. I have been planning to get DSLR first, but after few suggestions, I changed my mind to have a digital camera and a laptop. So, for the past few days, I have been to almost every shopping malls surveying those three things.
For the first, I might want to buy a laptop and a digital camera. But if I have extra money, I want to buy a DSLR too. But after all the surveying, I am trapped in dilemma on what and which to choose.
For instance, laptop. I am so much interested with HP Pavilion DV2 and Toshiba T110 because they both are slims and light. I don’t need a heavy laptop. I wanted to have an NEC but unfortunately, NEC no longer produces laptop. So, the choices are now on Toshiba and HP.

And for camera, I really love to have Sony Cybershot DSC T900 or Sony Cybershot DSC T20. But it will cost me thousand plus, while my another choices are Canon Ixus 70 IS and Canon Ixus 85 IS which will cost me for below one thousand. But if I were too “miskin” later, my choice will be Samsung ES17.

Exactly for DSLR, I still not sure of which brand is good for a beginner like me. But I kind of interested with Sony and Canon. And even Nikon. For Sony, my choice will be Sony Alpha 300 and Sony Alpha 200. Choices for Canon would be Canon EOS 1000D and Canon EOS 500D. And for Nikon, D60 and D90.
So guys, if you’re expert in this field, please let me know which one is good in every of the categories. For those DSLR, I am still a beginner, so make sure you includes in your mind about that. And for laptop, I am interested so much with those two, so only those two that I will be buying later. And for digital camera, it will only for my blog photos. So, let me know yeah, what should I get for Laptop, Digital Camera and DSLR. =P
Thank you! =)

I’m giving my opinion on the laptops, I leave the Camera stuff to other experts. Hahaha. I know why you’re in dilemma, because both HP Pavilion dv2 and Toshiba T110 are equally good.
Both lightweight because it’s smaller in size (about 12′ LCD) with no optical drive (you need to buy external DVD/BlueRay drive if you want).
But spec wise, HP Pavilion Dv2 has an advantage because it’s running on AMD Athlon Neo with ATI Radeon HD (not sure if the model you’re referring to is the same as the one i used to play with). Toshiba T110 is slower since it used a cut-down version of Pentium processor.
One thing Toshiba T110 does well is its battery life. It can last for about 4-5 hours. HP Pav DV2 last for about 3 hours.
If you let me choose between these two, i’ll choose HP.
But currently i’m using Lenovo Thinkpad. Hahaha
I want HP too after long considerations… but people said HP tak tahan… after a year rosak… huhuhuh now, I’m in dilemma again… ;(

if u want slim and light laptop, i think the slimmest and lightest one now in the world is the dell’s laptop…forgot already wats the model name. :)
ive bought my laptop sudah. customized dell studio. awaiting their shipment now.
as for the dslr…why not go around and have a taste and feel on how those dslr you mentioned perform? that way, you might be able to tell which one you will prefer.
I went to few places and had my hands on those few DSLRs I mentioned above… but now, I have the problem on which one to choose as I tried every each of it… ;(

All mid-end laptops depend on how you use them actually. People crashes laptops because they over-used it. I fixed a lot of laptops and most of the time the owner don’t know how to maintain their laptops. My previous HP serves me for 3 years before i replace it, not because it’s broken, but i need to upgrade. I’m suggesting HP Pavilion DV2 based on the two options you have given.
As mentioned by Carol, Dell is also a good choice but it depends on your budget lah. With the two options u have given, it seems your target is below 2.5k. Right?
Another thing, most thin and light laptops overheat easily, so far only and i do mean ONLY Macbook Pro manage to tackle this problem. The rest, overheats often. You need to consider that as well.
That’s what makes me worry bro. Worried that I could not take care much about the HP. But I guess, I take your suggestion. Discussed with cyril also abot this, and he said the same. It’s up to me how I manage to take care of the HP.
And yes, you’re right Bro. My budget would be below 2.5K for laptop, below 1K for digital camera and below 3K for DSLR… =P
If my HP rosak in future, I ask you la fix it.. LOL make it free aite?? =)

Hahaha…no worries. Make sure you use it habis-habis during the warranty period. They offer direct replacement during the period, no fix or repair. Total replacement. HP has a service centre at Jalan Pending, shop lots behind Crown Square. The service is good. You’ll get back your laptop within 14 days!
Yaka? So every time my Hp rosak, they will replace la? Hahahaha I’ll make sure my HP rosak every week la like that…
Thanks Bro. I might buy HP instead of buying Toshiba. Cyril and I agreed with what you have mentioned about HP and Toshiba. Thanks! ;)

Hey, if you just want to use it for daily uses (typing, chatting, facebooking, surfing), try Toshiba Protege T130!!
Hahaha. I tested it and damn it’s better than Toshiba T110
