Remember I went back to Kuching to spend few days of holiday there. I ate a lot of Sarawak Laksa and bought few boxes of Sarawak Kek Lapis which were damn yummy!!! So, I never expected that Kek Lapis is so popular in Peninsular. My friends took some and want to have some more. She even said that she wants me to buy it for her when I come back to Kuching again later.
Talking about Sarawak Kek Lapis, in Kuching, Kek Lapis costs for about RM10 per box. You can easily find this thing some where along Waterfront, at any times. If you want to buy 5 boxes of Kek Lapis, it costs only RM45 instead of RM50. I think you can negotiate more when you buy more of Kek Lapis. As long as you know how to communicate and negotiate, I think you will get more discounts if you buy many of Kek Lapis.
Unfortunately here, my friend told me, a same size of Kek Lapis cost RM10 in Kuching, costs for about RM70 here in Peninsular. It’s totally a huge difference of cost for a same size of Kek Lapis. I never came across of Kek Lapis here yet, but I just listened to few people here saying the high price of Kek Lapis compared to Kuching, and I’m shocked!
The real cost of Kek Lapis which is RM10 per box, bring lots of profits to the seller in Peninsular. If they really sells it to RM70 per box, they will have the profits of RM60 per box which can supports them for another 6 boxes of Kek Lapis. AWESOME! *thinking of to do a business LOL*
So, I think, later during my semester breaks, I might have to buy lots of Kek Lapis since some of them have asked me to do so. But of course, extra charge will be taken. Why? Petrol fee for me to look for it and buy it. Kargo fee for me to bring it up on the plane. :P
