World Cup 2010 has ended seeing Spain brings home the victory. Apart from being busy watching it, I went to Rainforest World Music Festival 2010. Invited as a blogger by Sarawak Tourism Board, on behalf of Borneo Colours. I attended the event on the 10th-11th July 2010 which was the second and the final day of RWMF2010.
RWMF2010 was fantastic thing attended by me. As for music lovers like me, to spend money on tickets is just worth it. I bought my own ticket before I got the invited for few ringgits. And I wouldn’t mind to spend money to buy my air tickets and even to spend on food during the event.
The media pass access not to all of things. I were only allowed to attend the press conference and enter the Sarawak Cultural Village freely. I attended one Press conference with the performers in the afternoon, where few bands were day to give us their details, and to give us chance to know them more. The bands are Debu from Indonesia, Farafina from Burkina Faso, Bakih from Sarawak, Kimura-Ono-Duo from Japan, Yerboli from China and Monster Ceilidh Band from United Kingdom.
The press conference was more on how and when the band started to involve in the traditional instruments and music. And how they managed to go until this far. They even being asked on how they feel with the current event they have need to perform. Mustafa from Debu said if he got the chance, he will jump into the mud and enjoy the moment together with the audiences. But he needs to perform, and he has not chance to do so.
Apart from the conference, I was lucky to attend the workshop too. But before that, I spent RM30 for my airbrush tattoo and painted it on my right arm. I even managed to catch up with few bloggers during the Bloggers@RWMF2010. We had the meeting at the Sarawak Cultural Village Restaurant, and had lunch together during the meeting.
During RWMF, you can always choose where you want to go for the workshop. You can choose to join the fun at the Theater, Iban Longhouse and even at the Dewan Lagenda. So, last Saturday, on the second day of RWMF2010, I went to the Dewan Lagenda, to have some fun during the workshop. At2-2.45pm, I managed to catch up with Electro Groove workshop. From 3.15-4pm, I had fun dancing along for the Russian Folk Dancing workshop. And at 4.30-5.15pm, there was a workshop on Striking performers which involved the instruments that are hit by few performers such as Christophe Bregaint, Kalifa Hema, Cynthia Dominic Neng and others.
All the workshops were fun. With the hot weather, and packed people in the Dewan Lagenda, I still managed to have fun to the fullest during the workshop. The next thing I did was, looking for food and spot to have the mat laid.
The performers for the second night of RWMF2010 were not that bad, which we could see bands like Ensemble Shanbehzadeh from Iran, Kimura-Ono-Dua from Japan, Minuit Guibolles from France, Braagas from Czech Republic, Leila Negrau fron Reunion Island, Monster Ceilidh Band from United Kingdom and Farafina from Burkina Faso. All of them were awesome! They made the party gone wild with their instruments and musics.
I honestly say, on the second day of RWMF2010, I love the band called Leila Negrau the most. They had rocked me up the the max!!! :)
