I have struggled with skin disease for more than a month, and today, I had went to see specialist regarding my skin. I skipped class just to make sure I got the treatment right till its root. I could not stand any longer with the itchiness and pain.
All these while, friends have been saying about me being a vampire. Cold-blooded even on a hot weather, sensitive to sun light especially my eyes and head. My body temperature changes due to environment. I easily gone with fever or cold, depending on my surrounding.
Check-up today gave me terrible headache and I had never thought of having this kind of disease. I was interviewed by a specialist and showed to her few photos taken when the disease started to affect my face and armpits.
Her first impression was, SLE. Yeah, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, an autoimmune disease affecting multiple systems in the body. I am so freaking sad to hear that. She had to called two other senior specialists to confirm everything.
I never thought that skin allergies could end up with SLE. I never had that in mind. I will be reviewed again next week, for intensive care follow-up and CTD screening. At the moment, I had undergone blood tests. Many blood tests, from FBC, ANA, ANCA, ESR and more I just don’t need to mention it all here.
No medications at the moment, since I was asked to stop every medicines taken before to see what happen when no medicines are taken to control the inflammations. I have been using steroids for more than a month, and the specialist was so shocked to hear that. Yeah, am experiencing the side effects now. Puffy face, hairy and weight gained.
From the moment doctors said it may be SLE, I was advised to live like a SLE patient. Avoid sunlight, wear sunglasses, use umbrella, apply on sunblock and avoid sun as hard as I can. *sigh* No wonder I had trouble when it comes to sun light. Now I know what’s the answer….. :(
